Yeah, I suppose that’s a good analogy. I kind of struggled with the description of what is supposed to happen. All I’m really trying to say is that there should be an easy way to create a nested sequence from clips in an existing sequence.

Adobe’s lack of active response has been often and loudly lamented in lots of different on-line circles. Therefore it may be not unusual for people to feel that there isn’t a lot of listening going on. I don’t really believe that to be the case. But I confess to having to overcome a bit of a “why bother” attitude before composing my list of wants. But as mom always said, “Don’t be mad at me if dinner isn’t what you wanted. What do you think I am, a mind reader?” There is also a trite saying about squeaky wheels and grease that may apply too.
Part of what makes this discussion so interesting is the variety of view points regarding what people see as the most important feature. I’m just glad I’m not the one who decides how limited development resources get spent. It has got to feel like a “no win” job as some user is always going to be unhappy.
Every NLE I have ever worked with has shortcomings – every single one. So, here I am sitting at the desk investing my time learning Premiere Pro and how to work around its current set of shortcomings. All things considered, Premiere Pro is a very impressive application. That’s all I am really asking. Each alignment type is equal valid. It’s just that my mind’s eye sees it in terms of “it starts here” as meaning at the cut. But hey, that’s just me.
After nearly a decade of using NLEs I’m pretty sure the changeover is as complete as it’s going to get. Maybe it’s the once every three months or so sitting down in the linear suite that’s holding me back?

I agree. (Of course the rolling edit tool would suffice if it didn’t insist on leaving the last frame of the clip you are rolling over. grrr…)

Can not believe I almost forgot this one.
16. Easily select multiple clips, on multiple tracks, and create a nested timeline from them. The selections would be moved into a new sequence. This new sequence would be the source clip in the original sequence replacing the clips used to create the nest. (And no, cut & paste is not the same thing.)
This one is so elemental that I keep thinking it must be there somewhere but I haven’t found it yet.

Agreed.Here are a couple of integration visions I’ve wished for:
1. Easy transfer of a sequence’s audio tracks into an Audition multitrack session. The audio tools of PPro are great but Audition offers some nice extras. Plus it would be nice to pass the session of to someone who specializes in audio mixing.
2. From Encore import a specific sequence from a project without having to export anything from PPro. The reverse should be possible, that is to say from PPro send a Sequence to an Encore project where it will show up as a timeline asset.
