Yeah, I know I don’t have the fastest laptop on the block, but I was interested in Mercury Engine GPU acceleration for Premiere Pro. Thanks to Jon, I know I don’t have that capability, but no worries. I’ll at least have 64 bit performance. There will always be a new computer in my future, but I just wanted to know where I”m at.

FCP is my first choice but CS5 is too irresistible. I went ahead & got it for many other reasons. Adobe is really stepping up these days with their product integration & cool features.

That DEFINITELY clears up the confusion.

• I don’t have a compatible GFX card
• It’ll work very well in software mode but set the preview playback resolution down for realtime effects

Great stuff. Right to the point.

Will I still benefit from 64 bit processing (with Snow Leopard of course) without the GPU acceleration?

This is the info I was looking for. I was actually on that page, but neglected to scroll down to see the supported cards.

I figured I’d be fine.

It was in the system requirements for Premier that were particular about the graphics card. I was able to find this link which lists the Adobe approved video cards, and mine is on the list:
