Thanks William for the suggestion.

However, the filming took place over 1 session…. the camera was switched on all the time, i did not press stop during the main shooting which was about 40 minutes long.

The first clip was about 2 minutes with audio setting on the camcorder set to Stereo 8 bits. Then i switched the setting to Mono 16 bits and shoot the rest using this setting.

Strange the way Windows Movie Maker captured the whole tape normally in one clip, while Premiere Pro kept falling over every couple of minutes (sometimes less than a minute) with Unknown Recorder Error.
