Ok, thanks for the info,
a couple of questions:
1: Is there a tool (software) of some sort that measures hardware performance, for PCIe slots etc… kinda like the Hdd R/W speed test that comes on the BM CD,2: Earlier in this thread I noted on how I struggled to find the any FW v3025 for the ASUS pci-e card, the ONLY thing i could find anywhere was for https://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-75165
this got me to v3025, as i was stuck on v3021 before that, with Shuttle not even recognised AT ALL until getting the latest FW.
then I piut the lastest driver version on after that, drvr.v2.0.4.0…. I assume this is ok as its the same NEC chipset in the thinkpads as in the the ASUS PCIe card ?3: Ok, i will un-install the AHCI(sata) drivers for the Asus card, and re-install just the USB 3.0 driver ONLY…. you said to disable sata from device manager(not sure how)..only installing one of the drivers will do the same thing right ?
when I boot up my PC now there is a new Marvel controller that shows a Bios V 0.0.0.012 (i think)…can i enter that Bios the same as i can my normal MAIN Bios ?, would there be anything in there to disable the Sata or not ?
Thanks.

Alan Scott qutoe:
{ I will be trying this out soon. My shuttle should be arriving in a few days. The software bundle does come with the Blackmagic disk benchmark tool right? What results are either of you seeing?
Just to confirm, your not using the sata ports on the ASUS USB 3.0 card as well right?
In “theory” (and reiterated by Blackmagic) a PCIe 4x USB 3.0 adapter in a slot that has at least PCIe 4x lanes wired is supposed to be good enough. I can’t find one other company or specification that indicates P55 or X58 as a must for USB 3.0 adapters and “should” come down to how well the bandwidth to disk and USB 3.0 is being handled by the board. }
Can guess the only boards tested were P55 X58 and they didn’t want to go back a couple of generations of chipsets to make sure they workedl (somewhat understandable) or there is some known latency issues with the P35, P45 boards not very well documented in regards to USB 3.0.
Errm, NO I`m not using the SATA ports on the Asus PCIe card….what i DID notice was when BlackMagic say “Our product is ok with PCIe X4” ( then prefferably the x58 + P55 Mobos ).
I assume theymeant PCIe V2 X4 Lanes, whereas, for example my board has PCIe V1 X4…could it be that they`ve made the drivers `test` the connection stas/type before even lanching any control panel etc, and simply refuse to launch the device on anything OTHER-THAN –`MAX-POTENTIAL` ??

UPDATE: I now have the BlackMagic properly recognised by the windows, with no abnormal mesages etc. (regarding device performing faster, etc) but still no BM control panel control nor can i launch media express, just tells me theres no BM device found.
Yes I have the Usb Video Desktop installer instaled (from the CD)
What is just the BASIC intall requirement for the Shuttle?, just the USB 3 Desktop video drivers + media express ?…these are the 2 things i have
thanks.

ok, i FINALLY managed to find a FW version 3025 for the NEC PCI-e controller,….. the blackmagic is recognised by windows but saya `this device could perform faster`, is this the intensity drivers?
I also still cant get any selectable drop=down boxes in the BlackMagic control-panel

Sorry, just noticed a typo…
was meant to say that https://www.station-drivers.com/page/nec.htm
bottom linked FW-v3025 file is actually FW-version 3021…
my driver version is alll fine but I cannot find the “F302508FWUP1” file anywhere on the CD or on the net,
and i think thats all thats stopping BM shuttle seeing the PCI-e card, the FW version of the card.I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit also…
thanks.

Sorry, couldnt find the `edit` button for the original post….
I looked at the Renesas Electronic Usb 3.0 host controller app and mine reports that i have
Driver version 2.0.4.0
FW version 3021I have been to the https://www.station-drivers.com/page/nec.htm
website and the linked “FW v302508” download link is comming up as v3025 ??I`m right in think the Shuttle NEEDS Fw v3025 to be recognised properly by the PC, yeah ?
Because at the moment the closest it gets is windows fails to `properly install BM device`, and its detected as an “Unknown device”Please help! LOL
thanks.

ok cool thanks, so HD resolutions from PS3 via YPb/Cb/Pr/Cr
I assume my machine is up to the task?, I have a MSI Intel P35 Platinum + 4GB DDR2 +1 Q6600 GO @ (running at 3.0Ghz)…
Also back to the 2nd question I asked earlier, if the Adobe media Live Steaming sofware works, will that pick up all the other codecs I have on the PC… XVID, DIVX-PRO v6.8 etc, aswell as the H-264 ?
