Since I realized that what I said earlier was kind of dumb I seek for an explanation, 🙂
But I guess the one they allready give is the proper one but they also told me that when a lens is damage or not a very good one that could happen because the things inside it also move.

Canon lenses have a very crítical focus. One mm and your are soft. 🙁

To be honest I have no idea if YUV is equal to Prores. FC doesn’t use or needs more than 4GB of RAM. Of course I would recomend you to use the better computer but since you don’t have Premiere or Avid on the PC I think you are stuck with Mac. There’s trials of bot programs I think but if you are going to edit for a long period of time i would not recomend it.
There are also monthly fees for the use of Premiere so that maybe an option for you.
what’s your final destination? DVD, Web, cinema?But no matter what you do I would recomend that you put all your media on a different drive than your OS HDD. A disk with firewire 800 will do the trick.

Well if you want to edit in FC then you do have to convert and use a Mac. I Think that Adobe Premiere can handle YUV but you have to check as I have never used but if you can then you can use your PC. 🙂

Try making your video offline, in order to do that change the folder of your raw material somewhere else and then reconect it with your transcoded material. It should be easy because you have the same names of the files.
In order to reconect you can do it manually giving right click to the files and seleccting reconect media. Then choose you transcoded media with the same name. -
Convert it to Prores in mpge streamclip. Of there’s any loss it would be minimal. Check your convertion with your original just to be sure.

Convert everthing into Prores because it is the best for editing in FC. Either compressor or Mpge streamclip (You can find it on Google and it’s free) will do the trick. Good luck. 🙂

I would recomend converting everthing to prores.
With flip for mac you can convert the wmv and with mpge Streamclip you can convert the mp4.

Have you converted the material to Prores? Maybe you are editing H.264 or other no editing codec. You need to give more details. -
