Download and buy cinematize. You can Export the DVDs as Prores. 🙂

There’s no metadata on mini dv so I guess the best way is to look at the material once you capture it.
I have edited all my minidv as dv format, it’s the automatic format that final cut gives you when you capture minidv and hi8. Maybe you can capture it as Prores (I AM not sure) but I had never has any problem with dv.
