    clyde,
    this is very simple.

if you´ve imported a MOV or AVI-file into your project, you need to look t your project-window on the top left corner (normally).

do a right-klick on the (untranscoded) video, choose the transcoding-settings from the contextual menu.

from the window choose edit qualtiy presets. then you´ll get the typical media-encoder-window, where you can create a preset (with upper or lower field first)….

save the preset and go bach to the previous window. then you can select this preset for your trascoding – DONE! 🙂

    clyde,
this is depending on if you have transcoded your video allready, or if you use an (uncompressed) MOV or AVI.

ALL video-assets needs to have the same flie-order as their MOV or AVI-files.

encore could not detect the field-order within MOV- oor AVI-files, you need to SET it in the individual encoding-setting of each file.

    Joe,
if you have a bootcamp-system running, you should try DVDLogic EasyBD. it has the best price/value I´ve ever seen.

OK, in fact it´s a spec-authoring-software as well, and it has a learning-curve, but at this point it´s more easy than all others.

    Brian,
you should dynamic-link your audio to audition and do a 5.1-audio-export

within the export-window you need to change the output-file-format to dolby AC3 instead of EC3.

then you´ll export to valid dolby digital audio for DVD- or BD-authoring.

May 28, 2015 at 6:52 pm in reply to: Black between videos?

    Chad,
the black-frame is not a BD-media related issue, it´s a player-problem, but only a few players do this.

while other players (like panasonic or sony) will freeze the last frame of the previous played menu, these players will have a black-frame while loading the IG-graphic into the player-IG-buffer prior playing the menu.

the IG-graphic is containing all elements of the interactive part of the (multi-layer-)menus.

IF you are looking for a different authoring-software that could handle most possibilities of the BD-specs, you might have a look at DVDLogic software called EasyBD, which is a spec-authoring-tool. be awared there´s a learning-curve with it.

April 24, 2015 at 8:30 pm in reply to: DVD Authoring for BluRay

    Hey Guys,
the topic is a bit strange! DVD authoring or blu-ray authoring?! there is no DVD authoring for blu-ray as these are two different physical media.

and same is with the authoring: if you would like to create professional DVDs you should look for a DVD-authoring-application, if you would like to do BD-authoring, then you need a BD-authoring-application!

there are some applications, that could do basic authoring of both of them, for example toast or (more capable) adobe encore.

    more options possible as well.

  • Hi Matthias,
maybe you haven´t recognized it, but this forum is in english language, in that reason it would be good to write in english instead of german, otherwise you might not expect to get an answer.

now to your “general error” in encore. first of all you haven´t told us which version of encore you´re using.

we all know, there are several short-commings within encore that could result in errors. to probably prevent them you should try this:

    1. encode all assets prior authoring to m2v and ac3 dolby digital.
    2. DONT use any h264-quicktime- or mp4-files for authoring (or editing), don´t use dynamic linking from premiere pro to encore.
    3. start a new project from scratch and use previously encoded video- and audio-files.

    good luck….

    Caroline,
I would do it using Apple DVD Studio Pro or Sonic Scenarist SD. Might also be possible with Encore, but this software is a bigger peace of bugs.

    Ali,
I would transcode all assets prior authoring using adobe media encoder. encore itself is an authoring-software, which has encoding-cababilities, which are usually not very good!

It might be the best way to create a new DVD-project and start from scratch. prepare your main feature with chapter-marker every 5-10 minutes (depending on your duration).

how long is your main feature?
