are you authoring DVD or BD? this has something to do with the dedicated spec and how encore creates its disc and the underlying abstraction-layer-code, which will be generated when you creates all you linkings and button-connections.

it´s allways a better idea to use professional apps like creative suite as admistrator, not as simple user!

use video>dvd video

drag&drop the m2v-file.

within the advanced feature deactivate the re-encoding-option and make sure these files have the same name like

file.m2v
file.ac3

then it just will multiplex them and wont reencode.

any reason why you used MPEG2 while compressor could also encode H264? it has better encoding-results at lower bitrates and more content would fit on a BD?

and sorry again – programm-streams are wrong for BD-authoring as elementary streams are necessary. as you might set “blu-ray” afterwards your setting will be set back to elementary (.m2v) which is correct. otherwise youll get a .MPEG-file which is wrong.

also be awared that apple AC3-template has wrong audio-settings!

if you used the bitrate-settings that I calculated – your content should not overfill your final disc. this could only be possible if there is some additinal content on it that I didn´t know.

your previous setting (where you´ve taken these screenshots from) had higher bitrates as you could use – as you could see they had 4Mbit/s, but the bitbudget calculated 3.5MBit/s possible instead.

why you used progressive encoding? and by the way PAL-material has no pan&scan, you could only use widescreen.

still video with music on top is only possible with blu-ray, but not with DVD.

what ALL authoring-apps are doing:

if you have a still-screen with music-track you would like to put under – the still-screen will be encoded to a video with the same duration as the music.

that´s the usual workflow…. but you better do this prior authoring yourself.

not ALL application do this right – so here you are, that´s your problem.

and by the way – you should use AC3 instead of PCM audio (and within your transcoding-setting).

be awared to have a bitbudget allways at your side….

I´ve never seen an issue with h264.

mostly if encore will transcode the assets – that´s a user-issue, as the encoder-values are not correct.

there is no way to edit the IG-stream within encore, as you are only able to edit the IG-stream within professional applications like scenarist, DoStudio or DVD Logic applications.

if you are working on BD you need to say “goodby” to good old DVD-structure and think different, as it has a different structure.

what you could do is to use the freeware-tool BDEdit:

to tweek your BD after multiplexing. but it´s very, very complex as you are working very near to spec.

IF you would like to extend your BD-capabilties you should look at DVD Logic-Software. it´s been simple to use and you can create professional BDs at a low cost level.

have you set up all these menus as screen/freezes, or are they motion-menus?

this could cause your problem, if you use simple freeze-frames/pictures.

this has nothing to do with the burning-app where you´ll create your BDs with, this is a spec-thing!

you´ll never get rid of it – I kept it in mind, that (not only) samsung players are doing this! there are a lot more.

BD-spec is way more complicated than DVD-spec, and it´s no usual thing to have a transition from one menu to another or something like this, as BDs have other technical instruments for the menu-selection called IG-stream (interactive streams) that could contain multi-page/multi-layer menus that could have transitions between every single (sub-)page, while the background-video is moving ahead without any interruption. this is possible, as the IG-stream is completly seperated from the background.

you can describe it as two layers, that are completly for it´s own, but working together at the same time. layer0 is the moving (background-)video and layer 1 on top of it is the IG-stream, which contains all the menu-pages with its button.

good example: you should have a look at “ice age – the big melt”, where you could see what I mean.
