thanks for the quick response.
I had read this and considered moving everything to the same drive as the project file but it is WAY more convenient to store the shared files on the server.
It’s kind of annoying as it works fine going from the PC to the MAC but not the other way. I.e. If I import a footage item from the server into my project on the PC and save the project , then open that project on the MAC it has no problem finding the footage on the server, but the other way it gets lost…

thanks for pointing that out, I’ll have a look.
jeepers though, I hope marcus did a final proof check before he went to print, maybe it was just the online excerpts but there were some rather key omissions in the string examples ?
