  • This issue is still not fixed. What do we do?

I’m working on a documentary and with two editors sharing edits back and forth, this is COMPLETELY messing up our flow. A logged interview will NOT transfer if ever the footage has been opened in premiere before unless we just paste over the video file with the marked video.

    PLEASE HELP! HELP! HELLLLLLLPPPPP!

    Thanks.

P.S. What’s the shortcut to extend a marker to a given spot? (pretty sure it doesn’t exist but absolutely should)

  • Thanks for the insight. This really helped me to understand where the issue was. And I found that:

If I moved (I didn’t trash) the XML file that came with the footage to a different folder so it wasn’t read by Premiere, then trash the .xmp .cfa and .pek files created by Premiere on the initial import, the footage was read cleanly by Premiere and although it’s still separate clips, they’re at least the RIGHT separate clips and not reading as the same.

Timecode isn’t right, but I can live with that since we never jammed timecode on that day anyway.

    I’ve had issues with XDCAM.

I worked on a feature doc, and we shot on the Sony EX1. When we started, we obviously converted to XDCAM, but during the edit, we started adding tons of motion graphics, archive footage, and (would-be) overlays.

XDCAM isn’t great as an export for motion graphics nor is it a good format for converting archive material. And it doesn’t seem to carry an alpha channel, so that makes things difficult at times.

In my experience and opinion, ProRes is cleaner and stable, but some people here are having the opposite feeling. It also takes up nearly twice the space (so I’d suggest ProRes LT if that makes sense to others).

    Good luck!
