I was under the impression that the switcher needed to be set to the same frame rate as the cameras (30) … but apparently not?

We multi-tracked audio into Pro Tools. Slates=yes. I didn’t jam TC from audio to camera … that’s above my knowledge level 🙁

  • Thanks, Robert. Very helpful!

Was just wondering if its bad practice to shoot some scenes in 1080 and then others in 4k.

The 4k scenes would be performance shots of the artist. The 1080 are the storyline scenes.

  • I have to admit, I’m a noob…especially to Sony files.

Here’s a screenshot of the Quicktime info for the format.

I dragged my footage from my Video Drive into FCPX using Proxy. Seems to be no issues.

But as an earlier entry mentioned, the file names for future projects might have the same name? I’m hearing that Sony doesn’t automatically parse the file names into sequential order?

For future reference, which format SHOULD I be filming in when renting a Sony a7s ii?

I’ll try to update. This version works on my Laptop as well (same OS).

When i open, I’m opening from the Applications folder… directly into AE (not from a project file)

Good points. As you can see in the frame shots in my first post, there’s quite a bit of “wasted” sides in the frame but the actor was performing to a song so I needed to pull back my camera to make room for his movements.

I’m going to go purchase some fixtures and try it out.

The big issue I was/am having is the shadows between his legs. His right leg is cast a shadow in between his legs and having to mask that out was tedious. Hopefully the new fixtures will help with this.

    Great pointers!

    Thats great info!

So, I’d put my actor as far away from the Green Screen as possible … and put the Fixtures to light the green screen in between my actor and the screen?

    Like this crude mock-up?

There’s no real depth dimension to this illustration, but, assume the actor is about 5-10′ away and the light fixtures are a few feet above and in front of the green screen.

Or would it actually just be easier to get a few 4×8 plywood panels and paint them Chroma green to help diminish wrinkles as well?
