Hey thanks! That’s actually a big help. One more thing before I do this: When I select the text tool and type my text, I hit the space bar after typing the first word and create a wanted character space. The text cursor moves a space. But when I type the next letter, the letter typed doesn’t skip the desired space? In essence, I’m unable to type two separate words right now. What am I doing wrong?

Secondly, when I do type my text, how do I center the two words? I’m clicking the paragraph tab, then clicking center, but to my eyes it doesn’t look like it’s in the center of my widescreen window.

Very frustrating….I tried the suggestions, and I’m still
getting the same problems.

After bringing in to Vegas the rendered file that I completed in PI,
I right click on the PI created file/properties/and have these settings:

attributes: 598x480x32
format: Targa RLE
frame rate: 29.970 NTSC
field order: none (but I have tried changing it to lower field first with no success)
pixel aspect ratio: 0.9091 (NTSC DV)
alpha channel: pre-multiplied

When I right click the video file/properties/I have these settings:

720x480x24
format: DV
field order: lower field first
pixel aspect ratio: 0.9091 (ntsc dv)

For whatever reason, I’m still getting the special effects (snow) at what looks like twice the speed–maybe even faster than that–from what I created in PI. Yet the frame rates show they are identical.

And despite setting my settings for 720×480 in PI and hitting alt +3 before rendering, the size–as you can tell by the properties–is different.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks. I know there is some scaling issues between the two applications (at least from what I’ve researched on this forum and others), so I was asking what my New Composition settings should be in AE for optimal quality.

Yeh, this is vacation video I took out in San Diego, so a reshoot isn’t in the cards. The shark exhibit was an indoor, very darkly lit room of water (above you and to the sides)–complete with a moving walkway, which produces incredible tracking shots <>. As I tilted the cam up, the brightness levels are quite good, but I would have gotten thrown out had I pulled out some portable lights and I didn’t want to ride the gain. I’ll keep tweaking it….

I have uploaded two stills: the raw footage still and the problem areas still.

The problem areas shot demonstrates that on some of the black parts of the shot, there are ghosting or blooming effects–maybe from too much contrast?
The shark itself doesn’t show this effect as blatantly. The problem areas aren’t seen as easily on a PC monitor.

During this same shot, the camera tilts up to where the lighting is more appropriate, so I have to be careful how much I brighten the sharks, but at the same time avoid this undesired effect around the sides of the shot.

Please let me know what I could use and what settings seem to be appropriate. I, as a beginner to Vegas, find Color Curves and the diagonal line difficult. Thanks.

Okay, I was told to use the TrackView category instead of
Tracklist and lo and behold, it now works. Interesting.
