Shane, I tried the demo nattress filters as you suggested and they don’t seem to give me the result that I am looking for, which is 24 progressive frames from the interlaced footage. I cut a 1080i(@29.97) clip into my 720-24p timeline, tried the various nattress filters and could not seem to find a setting that would remove the pulldown pattern that is embedded in the 1080i clip.

Might you know of a solution that will yield progressive frames upon conversion?

For example, you can export a 29.97 clip from quicktime as a 23.98 clip, but you get every frame interlaced, then you have to deinterlace that. This is definitely not preferable since it results in a lot of steppiness in the clip’s action. However, you do get to a place where you have 24 progressive frames, only with half of the information of the original frame. Therefore, I’m looking for a better conversion method that will not result in the steppy quality of throwing away too much information.

    Thanks.

    Neal
