ooh – honestly the best thing i can suggest is to view the source of their page – they have the perfect example there for you:

the steps to do it:
1. put a div with 100% width and height and a z-index of 100 or so on the page and set the opacity of it to the desired amount
2. put a div centered on the screen with a z-index of anything > 100 with the video in it…
i realize that you are probably looking for the details on the 2 steps, but they really do have it right there for you…view their source and track down the elements and you’ll be able to put together the specifics…

this is a tricky one – there are a ton of companies out there and quite frankly, a lot of them don’t have your best interests at heart. they will up-sell you like crazy and get you into something that you really don’t need.
you have a slight advantage here in that you want a website that is a very common type of website out there. my best recommendation to you would be:
1. browse the net and find a few sites that you really like that have a few different types of feature sets (so a more basic site and a fancier one with more sections and video and the likes – the more examples you can find of ones that you like and don’t like, the better)
2. find a local (or relatively local) web company if you can and approach them with your set of sites and any other requirements you can come up with. get estimates and thoughts from at least 2-3 companies if possible
at that point you’ll have a better idea of your options – but finding a company not in your area or that doesn’t understand your needs and tries to get you to spend more than you want is definitely a route you might want to avoid…

you can use it to do what you want to do – if you are formatting the drive, then you really only have one option, which is to put your existing data on a separate drive (either some or all of it – but that’s your choice), format your internal drive and then put back what you want – carbon copy will make you an exact copy of your current drive, which makes it a lot easier to put back what you want (copy back your user folder and applications folder, for example)…

michael, i suspect that most here agree with you (and i know i do), however you are fighting a battle that you cannot win…i spent several posts and gave up after trying to make the same logical argument…
he’s determined to have his macs plugged into the internet no matter what…so let him….

i’ll leave it at this – i’m not saying it’s dangerous to put a mac on an internet connection, but that it is less safe than not doing so. period. you cannot argue with that.
in addition, anybody who has a box connected to the internet should always have a firewall between themselves and the world – anybody who doesn’t is asking for it. and don’t come back with the dns changer thing – let it go. these are plain facts.

your devotion to the mothership is strong, my friend…it’s appreciated but keep in mind that no computer system is 100% secure – granted that unix has far fewer viruses than other operating systems, but you simply cannot say that a mac (or any other computer) plugged into the internet is as secure as one that is not. his boss is right when he says that their security is better if the editing systems are not on the internet.

you might want to look into carbon copy and an external drive, although an upgrade should preserve things ok – but backing up first is always smart…

ooh – i gotta disagree here…there are (albeit extremely rare) viruses for macs out there, and there is always more risk for a variety of things even outside of viruses when a box is connected to a public network…
i also suspect that the boss wants to keep the boxes off the internet to help keep productivity up…but outside that, a box off the internet (mac or not) is always more secure than a box that is connected…
i would just set up a small internal network – by far the easiest and then you’re set up for the future as well…could even make it wireless if you wanted…
