    hello…

hmm – maybe your account isn’t an admin account? just guessing at this point – that could explain why you could log in but not make system-level changes…

    hello…

it’s almost impossible to say with the information at hand, but repairing your permissions and the sorts won’t help a windows box connect to you (repairing permissions has become the “zap your pram” of os x – everybody does it for everything and while it will help some things, it won’t help a lot of others)…

i would guess that you either have something as simple as your username incorrect in your windows dialog when you are mapping the drive or that some other connection param is not set – did you enable the account in question to be used via windows file sharing in the sharing control panel?

    hello…

i would imagine that the traditional pink and blue could work, although that’s more for babies…other than that, i would think bright pastels like those you would find on children’s toys?

    hello…

it does come with the zip protocol built in, though, which i actually much prefer to stuffit – stuffit was great 10 years ago, but the industry has really settled on zip – now i can share those archives easily between all my platforms and not have to worry about proprietary formats…

    just my $.02… 🙂

    https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh2030.html

“A Mac OS Extended volume can be journaled, which means that the operating system keeps a continuous log (journal) of the changes made to the files on the volume. This helps the operating system restore the volume to a usable state when a power failure or other problem interrupts the disk’s operation and damages files.”

June 17, 2005 at 4:02 pm in reply to: auto dial setting for Safari?

    hello…

not sure if you’re on tiger or not (i think the wording changed for this option in tiger) – but in your network connection system preference panel, there is a ppp tab and then under that there is a “ppp options” button – in that resulting area, you’ll see the first choice which will be along the lines of “connect automatically when needed” – check that and it should work with safari…

if you do have tiger, make use of their rockin’ system preference search field in the upper right hand corner of the main system preference panel – search for “automatic” (sans quotes) and pick “ppp options” from the results…

June 17, 2005 at 3:57 pm in reply to: File renaming

    hello…

that’s not normal at all. are you sure you’re not somehow clicking in the finder view area in the save dialog and accidently pre-choosing another file name? since 10.2 (thankfully), the save dialog will let you click on a greyed out file name to transfer its name to your current save dialog file name so that you can save over an existing file or use it’s name as a starting point for your new file…

that’s the only thing i can think of, as i have never seen a computer (os x or not) just randomly choose a different file name for something i’m saving…

June 17, 2005 at 3:53 pm in reply to: add swf gallery to html page!

    hello…

a basic flash embed should only need the activex and embed tags – it’s hard to say from this remote vantage point what the issue could be (can you post a version of this anywhere for us to test?), but here’s two potential culprits:

    1. somehow the movie path in the embed code is not valid
    2. maybe you have really tight activex controls on your box so the flash won’t play?

i would try with another browser like firefox or the likes to see if it’s browser-specific…also post a version somewhere online for us to try as well!

    hope that helps…
