I appreciate the response. I realize I should have included a screen shot of it… I have the effect mimicked here in this image, however I don’t want to post anything directly from ESPN channel due to copyright issues… not sure how they work, but anyway… here is the image I have as an example that represents exactly how ESPN does it. It sounds like your advice is right about where I was leaning, and would also produce an image like this… let me know if I am incorrect.

Yes, some is straight 4×3 and some is anamorphic.

That’s good to know about the SMPTE frame size…

I’ll bring that up to some of the people I’m working with and see what we can figure out.

Is it just ProRes422 stuff that you’ve seen the green line with, when it’s not SMPTE?

Yes. Now, some of the footage is anamorphic for different use, but it doesn’t seem to matter either way it will show up at points where the footage gets slowed down.

I’m not really after a band-aid… I’m really looking for the cause or a solution that wouldn’t make me to have to alter the fine cut exports at all… so anything I could do before exporting that would fix the possible glitch or whatever it is… that’s ultimately where I need to fix the problem. That is, if it’s even possible.

It’s a strange one!

Indeed. It’s funny, I had it figured out to begin with… but then we overanalyzed our situation and caused ourselves to get frustrated with it… but now we’re back to easy mode!

I can understand why it seems confusing…
I actually contacted AJA and got my situation figured out, it just happens that the person I am doing this for was confused by aspect ration with the format that I had when upconverting originally…

However, I have gotten it taken care of through AJA’s tech support. I apologize for the crazy sounding problem! Thanks for the response though!
