Yes, many newer drives use USB-C. I just bought a Samsung 2TB T5 SSD. Comes with USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables. I also bought a CFast2.0 card reader which also including both cables. -
I think Alex is referring to developers offering subscriptions. For example, I subscribe to Frame.io which is available in the App Store and uses the new extension architecture. FCPX compatible plugins like Red Giant Universe, which is subscription based, could be sold in the App Store. I think Apple would like those developers who are inclined to use subscription models, to sell their FCPX plugins in the App Store.

Final Cut Pro 10.6 hints at WWDC19
Software news will be more about the Final Cut, Motion, iMovie and Compressor of 2020.So nothing major for FCPX for the rest of the year it would seem. Seems to imply that 10.5 isn’t going to be as important on 10.6 will be.

At WWDC they’ll be a still of a new Mac Pro and or a new Monitor. On the kKeynote slide with the monitor, there will be a very brief still frame of the FCPX interface.
The Kremlinologists will take screenshots of the still and blow it up, examining for any new icons or other changes in the interface. There will be at least one icon not quite clearly discernable enough and there will be debates over whether it’s related to a tracker or a roles based audio mixer.
The debate will rage on for days and the Cow will be quite happy with the sudden increase in this forum’s views. Then the release will come and you will hear mutterings about switching to Resolve and battles with the stalwarts.

Kyno isn’t really a MAM (I think they’ve said as much) in that it doesn’t keep archives of all media.

It’s been a while so I’d have to check back a few years but one that still sticks in my head was the rather expensive upgrade one needed for XDCAM EX codec support (which was most of my doc/eng style work at the time).Added: CatDV crashed every time I tried to import any MPEG2 Program Streams which, at the time, was most of my Cable TV Spot delivery.

They really encourage user input.What MAM are you using as an alternative?
I gave CatDV a loooong look and kept finding areas of frustration. Admittedly have checked it in a while but that’s because I’ve been happy with KeyFlow Pro. Granted my own use it for cataloging camera masters. -
I can’t help but wonder why KeyFlow Pro isn’t more popular.
Although I suspect I use it a little bit differently than others as I mostly use it to track the archives of my camera masters. I then search it to find where the original is located and import the originals into whatever Library for the Project I’m working on.
Whether using it as a searchable program for Libraries or, as I use it for camera masters, I haven’t seen anything else in its price range or ease of use for a small shop.

MPEG Streamclip is no longer in development. I believe it’s only 32 bit and may not take advantage of modern hardware accelerated encoding. You’d be much better off with Compressor.
