Thank you very much Neil… MORE New Info that I desperately need!… BUT I had Already solved my problem… I read a post here where the guy said with HDV footage he has just by DEFAULT always put a tape into the deck… Pressed the PLAY button… and THEN… Fired up Final Cut Pro… Everything WORKS!… (He stated that Final Cut Pro can get Confused as to wether its seeing a SD signal or a HD signal and if you just put the tape in and start it playing BEFORE you Launch Final Cut Pro… when it gets Launched… FCP will KNOW what kind of SIGNAL its Receiving and everything will work… AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM FOR ME!

BUT THANXS FOR YOUR ADDITIONAL INFO as well.

    Sincerely,

Mr Andrew… I was just about ready to BLOW MY BRAINS Out!… Until I read Your Brilliant little TIP here on dealing with HDV Footage and Final Cut Pro…

I laughed to myself and said… “This could NOT be true… This does not make sense!”… But, what the hell I figured… I turned the deck on… placed the HDV Tape into the deck… Pushed PLAY… and then I fired up Final Cut Pro… and I Could NOT Believe MY EYES… The Capture window Initialized the deck when opening and I was ready to Rock & Roll!

I spent a WEEK… So fully FRUSTRATED over this issue… (I have never edited ANY HD or HDV Footage before… But I have been editing SD Footage since 3/4 Decks were still in use!)

THANK YOU… THANK YOU… THANK YOU!!!!!

Why the hell doesn’t Final Cut Pro mention this Anywhere?… Why doesn’t Sony Mention this Anywhere???????

This is a HUGE TIP for first time users of HD and HDV footage working with Final Cut Pro…

    Thank you again Sir,

    Sincerely… Craig Amabello
