Did you even read what I wrote? It has NO BEARING. It’s a grading difference, I tried this with over 10 clips, even ones with no grading, in which the images were identical, except for the blocky-ness.

I just said that I want to be able to still tweak everything, without opening the specific part in another Vegas instance.

Thanks for the explanation Rick, and Bob. But I still don’t understand why more heavily encoded files, like the video files from my Nikon D7000 or any full HD AVC files for that matter do not have these kind of problems…
In fact, after a bit more testing, it seems the only cases I ever notice such severe macroblocking inducing behavior is with YouTube downloaded videos, which should in theory need less computing power to decode, right? Maybe I’m not understanding something…

You know, I have the same exact problem. I can’t find anything anywhere. Have you found anything? The really cool part is that all the others don’t seem to give a rat’s ass. Come on, this is one of the first things I’ve tried to use after effects for. You’re telling me EVERYBODY else never tried/needed this? They solve all their problems with the pen mask?! It’s rather weird, man.
