I know this is crazy overdue but wanted to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to both of you guys for helping me out in the issues I was having above. I’m now deep into the RED workflow which is always fun. Thanks again!

    Cheers,

I think I may have found a solution except for some reason, one of the directories is missing all but the VIDEO, AUDIO and LASTCLIP.TXT folders.

I was able to successfully Log & Transfer one directory into the FCP 6.0.4 and in the process of attempting the others. But the one directory mentioned above will not transfer into FCP. And Panasonic’s CMS app doesn’t seem to recognize ANYTHING in that folder with the missing CLIP, VOICE, ICON & PROXY folders.

So if I could find a way to rebuild that ONE directory, I think I may be in the clear with all of this mess.

ANy other ideas? THanks so much for your time.

FYI – I don’t have the P2 Store OR the cards with me anymore. I’m working with what I transferred to the FW Drive.

Well I tried the Import>P2 from my FCP 5.0.1 Powerbook with the identical media and get the:

“One or more P2 clips failed to import; probable incomplete or corrupt clips.”

But when I import the CONTENTS folder I can view, hear and move around both the video and audio clips in the timeline. I just have to manually marry the VIDEO and AUDIO together in the timeline.

    What’s going on? Very inconsistent.

    Any thoughts?

Well the thing is, I just opened an older version of the FCP project file from my PowerBook (G4 1.25, FCP 5.0.1, OSX 10.3.9, QT 7.4.1) and its recognizing all the files just fine…INCLUDING the audio and even playing back in the preview pane of the desktop browser for each file when click on them.

Now once you import the whole CONTENTS folder into FCP using the ‘Log and Transfer’ feature. Do you begin? Or do you have to re-import it from a different operation. Because I did import the entire CONTENTS folder finally and it still places them in the Bin as individual folders (i.e., AUDIO, VIDEO, CLIPS..etc.). How do you marry them all?

Thanks for helping out. Hope this makes sense. I’m new to the workflow and need to figure this out.

    Thanks.

UPDATE: in one of my folders the .XML files are missing. Not sure why. All the other CONTENTS folders have them. How critical are those? Please tell me that their not.

Tells me “unsupported media” when I try and do that. Do I have all the drivers I need?

No, I didn’t “illegally” download the software or pirate anything. And honeslty, even if I had, I feel that I lack the ignorance in thinking that installing a pirated OS would be a smart thing to do. Nor would I ever post it on a public forum. C’mon. Give me some credit. You must read a lot of these.

And you may correct me, but I remember buying it as a download. If not, the CD has made an escape.

I would re-install the OS. But I did an online download and never was given the Tiger CD. Maybe they’ll give me one at the Apple Store. So it looks like I need to take it in one wway or the other. *sigh*

    Thanks.

    doesn’t hold up, eh?

    ok, ok. sheesh.

Truth be told, I’m lazy and would rather not drive 20 minutes across town to the Apple Store when there might be other options for troubleshooting that may yield a solution from here. And considering I drive 60 miles a day just to get here to my studio…driving more often than necessary is not always my favorite thing to do. And gas prices suck as well.

    *shrug*

And for the record: I thought THIS was the real genius bar! Order Up! 😉

I guess I have no other options.

Thanks for the info. I understand the Genius Bar option as I’ve had to take this same machine there once before. However, I am looking for other options before having to fork over my dollars. Is there anything else at all that I can try before unplugging a thousand chords and carrying this thing across town?
    Thanks,
