I think Adobe Media Encoder (AME) is being confused with Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLE) here. FMLE is what needs to be “hooked into” in order to live stream from a video source.

The decision on whether or not to use a TriCaster is a matter of need. If you need a turnkey solution and don’t have a lot of in-house tech support, the TriCaster is your thing. Also, if you need to ingest multiple analog sources, the TriCaster is your thing.

If, however, you are starting from scratch in a fully digital environment and do not need to interact with analog sources, then BMD should be given serious consideration.

I would suggest you make a list of what you need and contemplate needing, them compare it to the feature set of the TriCaster and the BMD devices. Whichever one meets most of your needs wins.

Sorry, my post makes less sense after being edited by the moderator. Sure, it takes time, which makes it the perfect opportunity for users to develop a list on their own don’t you think?

Also, it would be great for Adobe to list what the capabilities are of the 5 or 6 video cards on Adobe’s CUDA list. For example, given the minimum non-GPU system requirements as a baseline – what is the difference in performance from a GTX 285 as opposed to a Quadro 5800, say playing a known video file in multiple layers.

Also, the Mercury Engine also gives great performance over CS4 in many other OpenGL GPUs. It would be great to see performance differences there as well.

You will find all of the export formats you love in the retail version. The trial does not allow export to the following formats:

AVCHD
MPEG2

I could give you a suggestion but it wouldn’t be polite…. But seriously, I have the same setup among many different Media 100 systems I’ve collected over the years and I find that the MPEG board is very much prone to failure. It’s as reliable as the old Atto SCSI cards I used about 10 years ago. My MPEG board has died twice in about 3 years. An unacceptable failure rate by any standard. I think I’m giving up on the system. Media 100 did some time ago.
