We’re planning to connect a shotgun mic or a wireless lapel mic to a 5D or 7D. I have read somewhere that doing that will create problems synching the audio to the video.

Does that mean if I shoot with a Canon 5D or 7D at 24p, I no longer need to worry about synch problems because now it’s recording at an exact 23.976? Do I just drop the 23.976 footage on Premiere’s 24p sequence and happily edit it?

How about the 25p mode of the camera. Do I just drop the 25p footage on Premiere’s 25P sequence and edit without worrying of synch problems?

If you can’t get 4:2:2 from a Canon DSLR, can you use it for chroma-keying jobs as good as footages shot from a 4:2:2 HVX200?

Yes, I know that. You always get what you pay for. But I need to know if putting another achromat lens will lessen the CA since I was told that the purpose of the included achromat in the DOF package was to reduce CA.

It’s a Canon XL1.

I used a cleaning tape and tried recording again and at times it would record, at times it won’t. When I play the tape using the camera, some recorded scenes have blue horizontal lines.

This morning, I played the tape again and the time code is again at 00;00;00 on a blue screen but I can tell that the tape is playing because of the green arrow play symbol at the top of the time code. I played the cleaning tape again and it started to play (but erratically) and still with some horizontal blue lines on some scenes.

Since initially, I thought that the camera did not record my shots, there was this time that I rewound one particular tape to the beginning and shot again. When played, there was again horizontal lines but this time, the previously recorded video is showing on top of the newly shot video as horizontal lines.

I think this is a drum/ head issue but I’m not sure if the camera simply needs professional cleaning or if something is out of alignment. What do you think?

I think I don’t have that. Will putting another achromat on the lens be the equivalent of switching on “macro focus on zoom lens”?

What \”macro\”? A macro lens? Is this the same as an achromat?

The whole image becomes totally blurred when I zoom in because my camera can’t focus at that very close distance (from the camera lens to the achromat). So in order to remove the vignette, I was thinking of enlarging the image instead of zooming in. Do you think that’s possible by putting extension rings between the condenser and the achromat?

In another forum, I’ve read someone using the same adapter (Jag35Pro) putting another achromat between the the condenser and the achromat (making it two achromats screwed together). He said the vignetting was completely gone and the image was sharper, probably as sharp as the more expensive adapters. Has anyone in the Cow tried that? Will the extra glass reduce too much light? Is this better than my first idea? What do you think?
