Oh yes I did find a solution…It’s called ADOBE PREMIERE! I Literally now have to take all of these different files that I am working with when doing multi-camera shoots, put them all into Premiere and and render them out to something that the ever-increasingly finicky Vegas will like BEFORE I can even make my first cut!

In this particular project I was working with ProRes, QT, AVI, MP-4…I literally had Vegas crash upon import EVERY TIME on certain QT files…THAT VEGAS CLAIMS TO FULLY SUPPORT! Put those same files in Premiere, no crashes, no weird audio glitches…Maybe CS6 will feature multi-camera editing similar to Vegas so I can say “Peace Out” to this dreadful program for good!

Welcome to the site…Don’t feel bad, Vegas crashes no matter what settings you use!

Can you just imagine for a second if versions of Windows operated like Vegas?

“I just purchased Win 7 64-bit, and it works great, but crashes every time I go on the internet, so I have to use 32-bit for that. It also doesn’t support Office, so I keep a copy of Vista around for that. Oh and I have these other programs that I really like, but they only work with XP, so I keep that around for those.”

There would be downright public outrage, and they would be called out by every media outlet and blogger in the county, but when Sony does it, we just sit back and say “Well I hope the patches come out soon to fix the problems…Maybe after I spend another $200 for the next upgrade it will work”

I thought as much, but my IT guy is telling me he thinks it is going out to the internet and back in to the server. I wanted to up the quality going out to the server so that I can do high quality on-demand recordings on Wowza as well as stream live, but I was afraid it would eat up too much bandwidth.

I wasn’t sure if there was some trick to add a port address or something of the like when streaming to another computer on the same network (or data switch)

As always thanks for the help,

Well Phil, welcome to the club! As I mentioned the other day, I had the exact same issues after installing 11 as well. I have had that same Nvidia driver crash, and yes you do have the latest driver for it.

The one thing I wanted to mention about the render dialog… If you click that match source settings it does clear some of the clutter away…

The one big thing Sony needs to add to it though, in Premiere when you are changing render settings, it actually tells you how big the file will be…That’s a HUGE feature for me, since some of my clients have file size limitations (Free Vimeo has a 500 MB limit for example)

Sony really needs to play catch up if it wants to stay in the game!

    [Nigel O'Neill]
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6″

I am using the identical board with an identical amount of RAM. Several other users with issues have also been on ASUS boards, but others have not. I am sure that Sony has received thousands of crash reports since 10 came out, and hopefully if there was an issue with ASUS boards or a certain brand of RAM, they would have figured it out by now…But who knows.

[Steve Rhoden] “Dont know what you guys hope to achieve by all this….”

To have an NLE that works?

Is it to much to ask that the version 11 of a program work better than, not worse than version 8 which came out 5 years ago?

I think it’s decided…You make the first one, and we will all make response videos!

Or you could create a YouTube user and give everyone here the user/password and we can all upload our own chapter of the “Saga”?

Thank you Lance, I just want you to know that your post has given me a shred of hope…Maybe there needs to be an “Occupy Sony Vegas Booth” movement at NAB! Or maybe…they just need to start listening to their faithful core users…
