Thanks, I didn’t think it was something I was doing. I suspected that the mic just picked up the sound in the wave and like you say, there is also the air pressure from the thump which a mic isn’t designed to “hear” but our senses can.

Thanks Paul, seems like no matter how many bases you cover you still get a new gremlin pop up. Guess it cam be a lesson for everyone, check EVERYTHING. Next time it’s phones off, check the stove and microwave alarms, unplug the smoke detectors, kill every clock, put the cats and dogs out, THEN check under every bed just to be sure.

Thanks, looks like it will do great…little pricey but then again, so is the lav and you want to have a good set. I just used a borrowed set that wasn’t adjustable on someone with an “above average head”, what a hassle that day was, everyone got irritable.

I’m really curious to see how that Sanken COS11 works out as a headset mic, I’m guessing fantastic.

Well, for sticking my toe in the HD water I’m leaning toward the new Canon XA10. Plenty of features and a price that leaves me room to seriously upgrade my computer. I’m comfortable with Canon quality and performance and its using easy to find and relatively good priced memory cards compared to some of the other brands is appealing as I hate it when companies force you to buy their “special” memory cards, it’s just not necessary. I’d rather not jump too quick at a $6k to 8K commitment till I feel more comfortable working with HD and then the XA10 will make a great “B” camera.
