Thank you I tried looking up info on the displays and here is what I found:

CONRAC is no longer producing displays. Last known business locations are shown and may no longer exist.

Thank you for the good feedback and it is exactly what I wanted to know. I’m a believer in value, and great support is worth spending it on.

I have a similar situation as I produce primarily DVD and Web based video. I needed to come up with a good reasonably priced reference monitor and a card for output to the reference monitor and have the ability to capture analog video/audio. I was told by some retailers to go with the Decklink HD extreme or studio 2 cards. Is it worth going with the LHi or LHe? The FS LM-1770W monitor seems to be a solid choice even though i’m not thrilled spending $2700, is it the best value?

I considered the 300 but have been reluctant due to the 1/3 CMOS chips with the use of fast moving sports. I attempted to rent one, but havent found a dealer in the area who has one. Most said they had no plans to offer it. I did use the 170 last fall and it is a nice camera, lens is a bit short. The LCD/viewfinder was difficuilt to pick up the ball as it apeared as a speck. I would have to get a outboard screen in that case.

I’m trying to say Under 10k if possible. Trying to get best value for the dollar, always consider demo units or slightly used if it makes sense.

Im actually in Pennsylvania. I rented the 170 last yr, nice camera, but I found the LCD and viewfinder tough to follow the ball. the wide lens doesnt help me at 13X for sports. I realize you have to compromise though. My biggest question is more about real workflow in finalcut to down convert to SD DVD. 45mins of footage to DVD. How many hours on P2 or XDCAM?

    Craig,

I have read some of your posts on converting XDCAM EX-1/3 to SD in FCP2. I have searched the forums but cant seem to find the complete workflow you suggested, which is unlike Ken Stone’s to DV instructions. Can you point me to a post with complete instructions that will work well? Thank you.
