…if you render anything out with fields off that used to have fields, you are de-interlacing everything you worked on and without a specialized plugin(like topaz) you are at the mercy of AE’s deinterlacer which is of poor quality.
“output from FCP to DVCPRO HD” that will be equavalent to re-interlacing progressive footage which will furthur reduce the quality because now every frame will have to become only a field.(that’s why animation is rendered at 2x the fps of the output)
So, after all’s said and done, you’ve only lost 4x quality…

Now the best way to do this for an example in an ideal situation, is render out all 23.976 stuff without pulldown, then after it’s rendered, reimport and do a quick 3:2 pulldown pass(https://wwwss) or use a Kone 3 to add pulldown for you to tape.https://technicolorsoftware.hostzi.com/

ah, you can get different looks using transfer modes, screen, add, color dodge, even displacement maps. Freeform and zaxwerks invigorator work the best for using the background as a 3D effect. Boris has built in twisting functions that work in full 3D too.

wait a minute, are you going to add text to live video that moves and changes perspective? That’s 3 motion tracking for starters. Are you adding a camera move to a still? You can lay down a grid, then instead of moving the grid, move the camera so that the grid lines match up in 2.5D. You can corner pin too in mocha too. I mean, what exactly is your goal? It’s more than laying down something unless you know what specific 2D,2.5D or 3d motion you want.

hard to say, either the original footage is bad or there’s a frame rate change from premiere to ae either with wrong pulldown cadence or progressive way off.

then the disintegration tutorial #88 which uses turbulent displace then transform pickwhipped to counter the movement which leaves pixels disintegrating. once you’ve completed the project, simply go to the linear wipe, and replace it with your own custom wipe, which could be any driving alpha force or squiggly curving lines like star trek for instance. get the squiggly lines from the ball over the #93 3D light casting.

an optical lens problem like chromatic abberation?
You could try keylight on it, then use that as a track matte then hue/saturation reduce saturation to just those pixels to blend them back in, or if it’s really bad then clone brush to fill in the missing pixels.

Apply this expression to your ‘Scale’ attribute and it’ll automatically ‘flip’ the layer in 3d space when the camera goes behind it. This way, your text will never be seen from behind, for instance.
