i guess the real question is, does view-simulate affect external monitors? I’m guessing not…
and it also looks like AE doesn’t work with anything besides REC709 for external previews…..very poor programming, and still no external preview luts either, AND still no REC2020 support, wow, just wow…

“When you choose a color working space for the project, the image sent to the video preview monitor is transformed from the working color space to the Rec. 709 color space. The gamma curve of the image is linearized (gamma = 1.0) if the Linearize Working Space option is enabled.”

“when color management is enabled in the project, Mercury Transmit will apply color transforms. These color transforms require additional processing, which can slow down the preview speed and drop it below real-time.”

there’s a pretty simple rule of thumb. if you’re ingesting anything color managed other than Rec.709(or whatever your monitor is set at), then anything that isn’t the same thing as your monitor isn’t gonna be interpreted correctly and therefore will be wrong.

or basically, if all you have is Rec.709 stuff, then AE with color management turned off works similar to its view-simulate Rec.709, i.e. your monitor is set to dumb mode.(fire and forget)

  • sure, there’s inverse telecine but that is 23.976 encapsulated in a reverse pulldown from 29.976. The actual framerate would still be still 23.976 in that case. I believe he’s actually 60fps whole frames (not 29.97 interlaced frames at 59.94 fields/sec) since he said slowmo was needed.

instead of timestretch, try applying the timewarp effect. It gives you more control over the global vectors, you can increase to 20, filter extreme keeps it sharp and timewarp supports masks too. buts its roto work to be sure.

If you want perfect results, you can buy the new teranex https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/teranexexpress

looks like any easy fix. just use effect-extract key with a garbage matte, do a simple color correction and feather it out, and viola!

  • do you have two cameras? You could shoot them side by side which would make post a lot easier. But isn’t that what pre-planning is all about?

The shutter speed for 60fps should be 1/2x so 1/120th is fine, then when you decimate, slow down, or whatever, to 24, it will maintain the same blurryness factor. Now if your final product is 24fps, all your non-slowed down 60fps will have to go through optical software such as timewarp, twixtor, compressor, magic bullet, terranex, etc. to not be stuttery.

you should be able to copy and paste the mono channel so it comes out both L,R. as stereo. Then again, if what they want is true dolby stereo, you would have had to record with a stereo mic in the first place or you’d have to mix by hand the audio into 5.1 or whatever they want.

you need two mono sources, then combine them into a stereo track, effects-invert one, then stereo to mono conversion.

    although…
its sounds like you have a song that is similar but isn’t exact. it has to be from the same recording because for the effect to work, the sample rate, speed, waveform compression, etc. have to be almost perfectly aligned to hope for any useful cancellation effect. You might be able to do some jiggery-pockery with it if you zoom in and align, stretch, stuff to fit, but I doubt you will be satisfied with the result.

  • Start with a 10 point parametric eq to isolate the freq. keep the curve smooth like a gradual curve.

Any kind of distortion or reverb with just the selection should be no problem. I’d recommend studio reverb. You can pick the frequency range with wet gate to blend it it.

    are you on windows?

Catalyst Control Center is your AMD radeon graphics software. try uninstalling and installing the latest from AMD.
Speaker properties and recording properties, advanced has the playback/record settings sample rate for windows. make them the same number.

In audition-try edit-interpret each wav to match preferences.

and finally, try a system restore back two days ago before the problem started. It sound like you have driver issues or even a trojan.
