samsung T1 and T3 get 300-400MB/sec over usb so I think in the future, we’ll get even faster. usb isn’t the bottleneck, at least not yet. You just need USB 3.0 + UASP motherboard support to get 450 MB/sec. That’s if your system is Superspeed/UASP compliant btw.

sorry, none of your questions make any sense.

if you can only get 240MB/sec in a Lacie as Raid 0, just to get that
performance speed, it’s a little silly for many reasons.

1. raid 0 is combining two hd and if either fails, the whole thing fails.
2. price $420? what the…
alternatives: Seagate Backup Plus Fast 4TB Portable External Hard Drive 220 MB/sec $179
Western Digital My Passport Pro 233MB/sec $288

3. if you want redundacy, you need raid 1,5, or 1+0

if you are editing off your fusion, that’s a USB 2.0, super slow

your WD 8TB my book thunderbolt raid 1 would be slow.
in large-block random read and write, the My Book came in at 108.2MB/s
the WD My Book Thunderbolt Duo 8TB is $650 for 168-240 MB/sec raid 0 so, raid 1
will be very slow and raid 1 would lose half the space, so it would actually only be 4TB!

you shouldn’t store footage/video/editing cache on the same hd as your OS.

can you narrow it down to cpu cores, ram, mercury transmit, sound card, mac permissions?

try these:

1. preferences-optimize rendering for performance

2. Limit Premiere’s RAM allocation to 32Gb

3. limit premiere to utilize only 16 cores for PP

4. Set Preferences : > Audio hardware > Default Input: to None

5. disable mercury transmit

there’s a million opinions on this. The
best thing you can do is put them in effects rack and
change order. This below is what I do.

I put them in order of non destructive.

1. dc offset – affects dynamic range so this goes first
2. normalize – -6db to see errors easier
3. eq – to lower wind etc before effect processing, high pass eq
4. clicks/hum – notch eq is better.
5. noise reduction – do small passes, not 1 big one at once
6. reverb
7. multiband compression is always 2nd to last step because any other processes affect dynamic range. It should soft limit for you. hard limits are audible and not recommended.
8. match loudness to audio standard – quality control

from what I can see, CPU is slower than old laptop processors. you would have to buy a new motherboard as well. perhaps you could keep the ram if you went for ddr3 mobo. If you don’t use raytracing, element3d etc, Ae won’t even use your GPU anyway so I wouldn’t worry about that part. hard drive should be farely decent depending on what type of footage you use, sd,hd,uhd,4k,8k.

ok, i didn’t want to report back without comparing. it looks like selective color still follows a somewhat whitish/saturation transfer while mine pushes into the pure solids. Mine also seems to make keying easier where you don’t need multiple keys.
plus mine is 32bpc so actually is higher quality. selective color for some reason is only 16bpc…
