ok, i just tried some xavc-s stuff.
some beta testing:
these improved my playback framerate by 30%:
26. set audio to 44.1 in hardware and premiere
audio pref – disable play audio while scrubbing
disable maintain pitch
audio hardware latency 200msdisable sequence composite linear color
sequence audio settings 32000hz
sequence settings preview file 1920×1080 1/2 size video frame size 3840×2160 then 1/2 size playback27. in monitor, pull markers together so there’s less tick marks per inch, the playback marker will go
offscreen while playing back.it seems to me that there’s many many problems with premiere.

I really wish the problem was nailed down. Transcoding does help editing but some people do run XAVCi codec just fine which means further debugging is necessary to find the native import solution. You can also try prelude to convert to cineform or DnxHD files. I was hesitant to suggest transcoding because that will pretty much negate 500gb SSD’s as these files are much much larger.

watch activity monitor and see if CPU spikes 90% or higher with zero effects as turbo should be automatic

the regular 8 bit one should be fine as youtube is 8 bit anyway. Gives slightly better results than h.264 and colors don’t shift.

make sure it can turbo up to 3.9 ghz because lumetri is 90% cpu based. does it lag with lumetri off?

luts aren’t smart. they don’t know what you want all the time. there was also rumours that impulse luts had quality issues from being below 64 cube quality etc. you’d get better quality tweaking your slog3 without a lut with simple levels input/output black/white acting as a precontrast limiter for brightness/contrast filter. if you upload with a DnxHD codec, youtube will look perfect.

Microsoft AVI (VfW)Can you get your hands on an old PC from 2004 windows xp or even 98se? It might have native dv codecs that don’t exist anywhere else or work for that matter. then, very carefully render them to png/tiff image sequence. png/tiff hasn’t changed in 20 years. There are so many dead codecs now that were called “dv” back in the day.
Or heck, use the power of the internet, upload and challenge people to decipher the particular codec.

is the audio a pcm wave file? adobe said sound issues can do this.

skylake is pretty much the same rendering speed as the ‘ol 4790. and since premiere is still single threaded, cpu ghz will always win.
skylake was created as an interim because it forces you to buy a new motheboard for the LG1151 and encouraged buying all new DDR4 ram(due to the secret 1.35v limit) which neither make any real difference in rendering speed. Haswell-E is the true renderer, beating all xeons, coming out soon is the i7-6950X.

if you could find anyone with enough skill to make it presentable, the price would likely be astronomical, because at the tail end of roto/masking each frame, graphic painting is the slowest, most expensive motion graphics work possible.
This isn’t hair or scratches, this is missing large chunks of video information. Depending on the shot, which hopefully was a locked tripod, you’d need to use a whole bag ‘o tricks like alternate frames, cloning, clean plates, timewarps, color correction etc. If the shot was moving, you would need 2.5D tracking, lens correction before you even got to the hard part!
