Gent’s, this behaviour is similar to Vegas Studio 10. Import of 5.1 audio is still NOT SUPPORTED. I have Panasonic AVCHD with 5.1 audio and I’m looking since years for payable solution below Vegas Pro. Vegas Studio 11 “mix-down” 5.1 audio to stereo. You can of course create 5.1 Surround projects and create 5.1 effects but not from your original audio file. Big marketing promises without real value.

I already tried your proposal. Rendering of the video stream don’t cause any problems. The separate rendering of the 5.1 audio resulted in AC-3 file with stereo down-mix only. This processing option doesn’t solve my problem.

I’m still looking for a solution – how to render the second audio stream instead of the first audio stream in my AVCHD source file.

I have burned a Blu-ray disc with 5.1 Surround audio. Unfortunately DVDA selected the first audio stream with “down-mixed” content. I have sound from front loudspeakers only. Also the property information of DVDA shows the name of this audio stream as “5.1 surround (stereo down-mix)”.

I also rendered separately the AC-3 stream form Vegas and inserted as additional audio stream with the DVDA. The result was two identical audio streams with down-mixed information. I didn’t find a way how to render from Vegas the second audio stream only (with full 6 channels).

Hi John,

First answer – I have 30-day trial version of DVDA Pro.
Second answer – I would like to create and burn Blurays in 1920×1080 PAL with 5.1 Surround sound – with other words – I would like to utilize the full video and audio information from my AVCHD source.

Unfortunately my Panasonic camcorder generates two 5.1 Surround audio streams – first one as stereo “down-mix” and second one with full 6 channel information. Vegas is properly importing both 5.1 audio streams but I don’t find the way how to bring both streams or at least the full 6 channel stream on the Bluray.

The whole story is really confusing. I do following steps:

1. Import Panasonic AVCHD-Files with one Video stream (1920x1080i, 25 fps) and two Audio streams in Dolby AC-3 (both in 48 kHZ, 5.1 Surround), first one as Stereo-Downmix and second one as full 6 channels.

2. Rendering as Sony AVC (AVCHD 1929×1080 PAL 5.1 Surround). The resulting *.mp4 file contains also one Video stream (1920x1080i, 25 fps) and two Audio streams AC-3 in 5.1 Surround. So far seems to be OK!

3. Reimporting this mp4-File in Vegas. The result is supprising:
– Video stream is OK!
– First Audio stream (5.1 Surround) conatains 6 channels but with normalized content
– Second Audio stream (5.1 Surround) contains 2 channels only

By the way – DVDAPro recognize only the first Audio stream.

You right – in the timeline you have only one audio stream visible. But with right-click on the stream you can switch between stream-1 and stream-2 (both streams are in 5.1 surround format).

Unfortunately only stream-1 is taken for rendering and this stream contains “down-mixed” content of stream-2.
