Make sure you make VERY CLEAR who actually owns the project when it is finished, in case it ever goes anywhere. Also MAKE SURE you have contracts for any SAG actors BEFORE YOU EVEN SET ONE FOOT ON THE SHOOTING LOCATION. I have been burned by both issues on two separate projects. Everyone is very amenable to almost everything in the beginning, but you don’t know what havoc certain individuals can wreak until you have the final project in the can!

I second Michael here and also note what Noah has mentioned several times; this camera’s “sweet spot” is 720Pn 24fps. I never shoot any other format with it and can upconvert to 1080i at any time if I need to. I have been spoiled and actually can’t stand interlaced video anymore.

Yes I downloaded the most recent Blue version last week. I got the “some features may not be supported” dialogue on both installs, and sure enough, when I even just tried to type text in the Blue interface, there was no response and it froze up. It is too bad, as I have been a Red and Continuum afficionado for years, and was really looking forward to giving Blue a test drive.

If you don’t see it listed, Comprehensive will make any cable you want, just give them your desired I/Os. Or better yet, why not just order another cable directly from either Panasonic or a Panasonic dealer??

I tried Boris Blue on both laptop and desktop Vista systems with supposedly “approved” video cards, and got the “not supported” warning on both installs. Sure enough, when opening and trying to use Blue on both systems, they did not respond. I quickly uninstalled both and wait for better Boris support of graphic cards.

Comprehensive has just about any cable combo you could dream up. They also have very good quality cabling.

August 11, 2008 at 3:53 am in reply to: How to make $114,000 producing 4 web videos with no experienceActually, since this IS a BUSINESS forum, and after actually viewing all four web clips, Edwards got a bargain at that price. Start adding up all the billables, two camera ops, an editor, a producer, and 3 staff. Start adding up all the different days of shooting, hotel and food costs, at least two days shooting in Uganda with at least half the staff, I actually think I would have billed out more than that for the same job. As anyone who has actually produced national ads for either party can attest, most 30 second commercials cost WAY more than 100K to shoot and produce, and that is before they hit the airwaves.

As I said, I hope you are right John. I was at NAB too.
