I really only can see it at the 1st cut.
Are all the clips the same format/size/frame rate/etc?

If you have a dissolve rendered fully between to clips.
THEN, you make a color or brightness adjustment to one or both clips. The media, rendered, inside that dissolve is not getting that color or brightness adjustment. Just thinking out loud, may not apply. You are fully rendering right?

Trash Prefs.
Re-boot.
Repair permissions.

All high quality videos and feature films for that matter are of HUGE sizes. This is normal. “Useless” is a bit dramatic.

You have to learn the art of compression. You can achieve high quality video optimized for web playback. Many, many people do this almost daily.
You frame rate choice has nothing to do with it.

Try exporting you finished piece using “current Settings” (Using FCP?)
Make it self contained if you want a digital master to keep forever.

Take that file into your compression program to create your deliverable.

This can be SD-DVD, Bluray (HD DVD is dead btw) or web video.

Try using the youtube guide-lines for HD video to get you started:

.mov
3000 bitrate as a starting point, I don’t know how long your vid is…

Increase your stills ram cache in the settings too.
Change the stills to 72 dpi
and 2-3000 wide, no bigger then needed for a move on them.
Things will go a lot smoother.

Well, even when you export something out of the middle, park your cursor at the beginning, click on the timecode and copy it.
Park the cursor at the end and export media.

Cursor will be sitting @ your out point, click the out button.
click on time code and paste, it will jump to you in point, click the in button.

You can also have 1 FW drive to edit off of.
Plug in an USB drive to just back up to or clone the FW drive.
Long term archive only needs to be the original card media, not the mov’s.

We put Raw Cam files on 2 separate drives on the shelf and spin them up every few months.
