I just got it to work..not sure why but I have a DV sequence preset and my easy setup was on 8-bit uncompressed. i just moved everything into anew sequence and exported outright without rendering the timeline..and it worked..not sure why, but it did..and now I’m happy.

mixing down the audio doesn’t help, I made and aif and FCP still ommitted my music.

The upgrade is $499 for the production suite, the production suite educational is $699. Lets say I shell out the extra $200 and just get the whole thing new again…but doesn’t that mean that every time a new version of FCP that comes out I’m paying extra for no reason?
Do you guys think that it would make more sense for me to buy the standard version one time for $1300 and from that point forward buy the upgrade for cheaper in the future for all subsequent versions of FCP and its other suite of programs? Blah it all sounds so convaluted.
How about this hypothetical: What if I bought the upgrade and tried it? Is there a line of code in the Academic versions of these programs that say “no, don’t upgrade me”?
