Well idealy i would like to capture firewire but I have a combination of DVCam and Digibeta material. So i can offline by taking in the DVcam via firewire and the Digi via SDI through the Kona converting to DV as I digitize. Then I can edit in a DV timeline.

But for final output which is to digibeta I have found that playing a DV timeline out through the kona SDI to digibeta produces poor quality pictures, particularly in the reds. Thats why i need to take in component.

So are you saying that I can convert the timeline to uncompressed, render and then output and it looks good? I was wondering about this and I shall do a test. But I suppose the Digi material will not look as good as if I redigitize uncompressed.

I’d love to get this workflow sorted out.
