Sure, Resolve is just exporting an AAF, I was just pointing out the feature as the promo touted it.
-
Wow, this looks amazing. The UI looks great, the editing looks better than FCPX. And integration with resolve and protools is infinitely more useful than after effects and speed grade. Plus it’s free?! This is easily the biggest threat IMO, it’s like the best of Premiere and FCPX without the the subscription and with active development adding excellent features.
-
Seriously, did roles receive zero updates? Timeline markers? Anything at all changed with timecode support? They published some basic 3D tools from Motion (which is already built into FCPX as a headless engine) but neglected the way more useful tracking? There must just be one developer in a room somewhere clutching his sides and laughing right now, I’m fully ready for another one of those Downfall dubs. What a mess.
-
The one and only benefit IMO of the color board was that it was available by default on every clip. Now that it’s gone, why would anyone ever use it?
-
No batch export? No mixer still? The color board was removed? This is the strangest update.

[Andrew Kimery] “The quotes you pulled Chris are out of context and a bit misleading, IMO.
FCPWorks will have it’s own suite at NAB and in that suite FCPWorks will be talking about things like using FCP X in a large-scale, multi-user environment. Some Apple PR people will also be there to talk about X. Nothing earth shattering, IMO, though it’s probably the place to be at NAB if you want to learn more about X.”
That’s not necessarily the impression I got when I listened to the most recent episode of FCPXGrill, although I could have misheard it. Link for reference.

Doesn’t work on their XSAN. Maybe it does use spotlight indexing then.

[Bill Davis] “As to transfer to an online house, Mike Matzdorff never said it was any kind of issue on Focus when he was working with Lightiron in LA.”
[Bill Davis] “f they can do it so easily, why is it a big problem for everyone else? “
Welp, one person with an NDA and direct contact with the team at Apple didn’t complain while doing a big-budget feature. We must all be doing something wrong. We have 200 TB on an XSAN, and LTO tape backup but space is still a commodity, and will be going forward. Proper archiving options would be a welcome addition, as every other software has this. This will be one of the features that people will defend Apple not implementing until they do, and then championing it soon afterwards. And what world are you cutting in that “media with handles” isn’t relevant? Every time anyone does graphics, color, anything it gets handles.
