We are also looking for a way to incorporate XDCAM EX footage for offline editing with HDCAM
and probably one other format. So after you convert to dv for offline and do your edit, how do you link back to the full quality files? Can you media manage the final edit sequence to create offline media with handles and then somehow re-link to the full quality files even though the lengths of the clips will be different? -

I will add to those giving the Terrablock a thumbs up.
We bought one of the first systems back a couple of years ago and it worked well,
but it was a little flaky in terms of crashing. We upgraded to the newer version a few months ago and it has been rock solid. We have five Avids and 2 FCP systems hanging off it using a mixture of SD and compressed HD (DNX and Prores) and everyone is playing quite nice together. -
Walter – I use the broadcast safe filter all the time to bring down illegal saturation levels. I find it is a fairly quick way to softly bring down just the illegal saturation while not affecting the legal values too much. I get the rest of the shot looking good first with the 3-way, and then apply broadcast safe at the conservative setting. The show I am working on has a set shot outdoors in full sunlight with a lot of yellow which screams off the charts in saturation. To try to isolate just the yellows would take me forever to do manually considering it’s a three camera shoot. I am scoping everything externally also.
Am I doing something wrong here? -

I just posted down below about the exact same problem…could it be a bug? Today I dragged my favorites into a bin in the project I am working on just in case…I will find out tomorrow if the problem is persisting.
