The Vortex settings are terrific in any situation I’ve been in so far:

    Matrix: ON
    High SAT
    White: Preset White: 5600
    Gamma: CINE4
    Black: -3
    Black Gamma: -2

Return that camera and demand another one immediately. Do Not let them tell you to send it in for service. Been there, done that. There is no service. They are clueless. Demand a new one.

I also have this problem as well as back focus issues, which is the main problem. Unusable for 8 months going on 9 months and no help from Sony despite repeated efforts–shipped to California, returned unrepaired, and after a lot of whining I was told it would be replaced. Yet, I still have it, and am making payments month after month. I need to know if others have received same treatment. If you still have not been serviced, if repairs are not happening, if there IS NO REPAIR but we’re being told there is one pending, I need to know. Enough is enough.

Any other EX3 users STILL have the back focus problem in Full MF mode? I still do in spite of doing the FB adjust AND sending to Sony. No remedy with stock lens. Others out there?

I’ve been shooting with EX cameras for over a year and only had this happen ONCE to one clip. I had more problems with tape cameras in the last 25 years of work—tapeless is a dream come true. You can trust it. But back it up to two hard drives, always, so you can sleep at night. One word…DROBO.

This happened to me and Sony said to make a copy via SDI or any way you can to another source. It won’t import via Transfer now. After you have it saved somewhere, see if that card will record again over that same area (note the timecode of the corrupt clip) and then you’ll know if it’s a corrupt area on the card. It had nothing to do with playback in my case. It was a corrupt card. I’m still trying to get Sony to replace it… a year later. Good luck.

We have shot several projects on green screen in less than perfect lighting situations and the keys are seamless. I had heard the same fears about the 4:2:0 key, but like most of the bad rumors surrounding this camera, it was false. The EX’s have been flawless in 3 months of shooting corporate, sports, documentary and a tele novela. I’m upgrading to the EX3 because I do lots of two camera shoots and I want the time-code slaved—all of the other new features are just a bonus at the new price point. Good luck. You won’t be disappointed.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me this week–brand new MBP, latest FCP, but XDCAM Xfer didn’t show clips. Software updates fixed everything just like That. Thanks for posting–everybody needs to read that one to avoid transfer problems.
