This has been a really helpful thread, I have been working with Adobe products for years, PS and AE nearly 11 and Premiere Pro 5 or 6 years, before PP I was using Avid to edit, which when its set up properly was fine. Premiere Pro was doing ok but recent versions have seen me go through an about turn! I have had it with Adobe, after forking out for the CS4 suite. The programmes simply do not do what they say they can do, they integration features such as Direct Link caused me more problems than it gave me solutions and PP is such a hog of a programme that on every project i used it…BHAM… my workflow grinds to a halt!!! and i have to spand more time developing crafty, ad hoc workarounds to cheat the poorly programmed ‘blow-ware’ as i have discovered others are calling it. I am sour, bitter, I want my money back! But most of all I want to enjoy my work again!! And it seems unless I am prepared to migrate to Mac and FP, which I have no problems with then I might be looking at Vegas for my editing atleast, but it seems from whats been written in the thread that I am on a wild goose chase if I think I can find anything to compare with AE in terms of PC based motion graphics and SFX. I love what AE offers me, and for that matter PP… I just wish they could deliver it instead of releasing a new product every 10 months, and please spare your fingers if this grates on you … I have heard all the excuses… there is no justification for rushed, sloppy programming! Wow sorry, bee in my bonnet…

Right… off to download the trial of Vegas and see what happens! Thank you guys!
