Hi Dave
———- reckon that when you ‘save’ it writes a link to footage which gets ‘broken’ sometimes – what surprised me though is that it cant be fixed by ‘collect files’ then copying assets to resulting ‘footage’ folder………
— guess its one of those bugs you learn to live with — its no big deal if you know how to solve it and exactly where where the footage is…………

— found a good fix in an earlier cow post from 2011 here https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/202/890369 — thanks to Angie Taylor for this one ..
..though this was only quick and easy because all the files were already in the collect files folder…….Angies post doesnt explain why it happens in the first place and am still interested if anyone knows????

—- sounds like its sorted ……….
……… also though – if you dont often use the ray traced 3d that comes with Ae its worth a look sometime —-
—– its real ray traced imagery which Element isnt and you can get some very interesting results with it which you cant with E3D —

….. Dan —— do you reckon you can bend the dollar bills rather than simply spin them in 3D ? —-Chris —

-
— you can do the 3d lettering easily enough using ray traced 3D in Ae which is in CS6 and above – ( as long as your workstation can crunch through it ok ) —–
— I have never used sprites in particles but am wondering if the notes can be done this way — worth a look —
Also – this clip is a comp ie its not all built in 3D therefore if you can source the notes as a separate element ( buy online maybe ? ) you could put it together in Ae

— ref your last comment saying that other items had been adversely affected ……..
……. this is what I was referring to before — the basic logic seems fine but sometimes the results are not as easy to control as you might expect ….
You have to work out which to leave rasterised and which NOT to be rasterised — think I have always got there in the end but its not too user friendly ….
Teds idea looks sound and should be fine if your are under time pressure

——- I dont exactly have the answer but I would say it is almost certainly a case of getting the combination of ‘3d layer’ and ‘collapse transformation’ ( checked or unchecked ) in the right order.
Even though I understand the basic principles here sometimes I am really puzzled as to how this behaves in a comp but usually find a bit of perseverance gets me there in the end —
—- to me what you describe sounds typical of this kind of thing —

January 19, 2015 at 12:14 am in reply to: “Inverse” or “Negative” Color Keying in Adobe After Effects CS6Hi Amar — if your footage is of good quality ( format ) its probably a lot easier than you think — below is more info –
1 ) key footage over a background that shows up well so you can check the ‘holes’ are how you like them.
2 ) duplicate footage and cancel key
3 ) make sure keyed footage is on the layer above the duplicate without the key
4 ) select the lower layer without the key and hit f4 to make sure the track matte option is available
5 ) select the track matte button and then select ‘alpha invert’
This should give you what you want as this should take the resulting key from the above layer and apply it to the lower layer while inverting it.
It doesnt matter if its moving or not – just pr0cess it …..
