I like the audio tracks don’t have the stereo/mono symbols.

hopefully they will act more like fcp did.
I get annoyed when I drop a clip in and it throws the audio
way down at the bottom.

CUDA is a fun subject.

I have an h.264 CUDA and Intel optimized encoder for creating Android compatible videos.

It does a 2-pass encode of a 45 minute show in 30 minutes…no image loss issues.

blu-ray burner. Works great in any mac or pc.

yeah josh I tried everything.

FCP just would not see the transparency without it.

Doesn’t make any sense (maybe a bug in 5.5?) but it works
and got the clips processed just in time for the deadline.

I’ll keep doing it the way I always did.

Now, instead of transcoding to pro res for fcp, I’ll just copy the camera content
into the capture scratch.

same thing I did for years before except the project archives will be smaller now
since we’re not converting to bigger file size prores clips any longer.

I edit on Raid 5 as well.

Ron & Tom, do you have additional backups of your camera files,
or just edit them directly from your Raid5 then archive when your done?

The gray area is, I’ve always had to transcode for fcp in the past
so having original media (xdcam, nxcam etc..) as backup was a given/requirement.

with being able to edit the camera files directly with premiere and
not having them captured from a tape source…thats what got me thinking.

Tom & Ron, do you edit directly from a copy of your camera files or
just your original set of camera files?

It seems like as long as one was editing on a protected RAID there
would be nearly zero chance or reason to need a duplicate backup
of camera files.

I’m talking about big projects where you have 50GB + of camera files.

that might be a tough call.

it would depend on setting the black magic capture
preset for audio only….I don’t think it will do that.
(I have a multibridge extreme)

Premiere has rather limited capture options at the moment.

if you bought the creative suite, why not just open audition
up and record it with that?

that might work, since it can use the black magic hardware for playback.

Just figured it out.

With premiere you have to put the green/blue screen footage on track 2.

Key it out then right click the bin area (where bars/countdown etc are), select “Transparent Video”
put that in track 1, export to prores 4444 (mac only option, with final cut studio installed)

import in final cut pro, works perfect.
