good to see that, but not useable in my world until AJA or BMD SDI out
to a grading monitor is enabled. -
I’ve relied on Premiere since the start of this year (previously fcp for years)
for every new project. Client supervised and not.Sure there have been a few hickups, but the experience has been good
and not having to transcode anything has been a huge time saver.Very pleased with 2 installed seats of CS 6 MAC in our shop.

did you uncheck “use previews”

fw 800 software raid?
you have 2 attached fw800 external drives as a RAID zero?
that could be the problem.
if you can, try a software RAID zero with 2 internal sata 7,200 rpm or faster drives.

those little thin lines between the tracks on the left side of the sequence?
you can grab them and pull them up or down to expand, if you zoom in
with them larger like that, you should be able to get more precise control.also, if you select the clip or double click it, in the source viewer (top middle of app)
you can go to the effects tab and adjust the audio to any setting you wish. -
I’ve been waiting for CS 6 since the day it was announced.
It has delivered in nearly every way I wanted it to.
What a lot of folks don’t realize is that it does require a pretty
fast system with a supported CUDA/OpenCL card and RAID storage
to ensure smooth consistent playback.It might not look much different, but under the hood its a
wholly new and improved experience.I’ve not once yet had any random crashes that shut premiere down like I had with CS 5.5
(running mac version on 10.6.8 with black magic hardware)My only gripe is that unrendered playback has synch issues, but
that can be expected I suppose when you have 5 layers of camera native HD footage and graphics.Rendered it plays back perfectly.
I’ve been using it daily since it came out and it’s never caused any problems
that didn’t allow me to get a job done on time. Even with clients in the room. -
ideally 7,200 rpm at the minimum.
if the one you are using for storage is already at that speed, I’d just
grab another one, then use them both for the RAID zero.back up your data, create the RAID set, then copy it back.
playback should be much smoother.

Ya, I set the renders/previews/captures and scratch to the raid.
plays/renders much faster that way.
You might be able to just get another of the same drive you’re using
then back it up, add the other drive and create a RAID zero with
windows disk administrator or whatever its called these days. -

PC’s use RAID too.
You will need it if you expect smooth playback of multi-layered HD sequences.
PC or Mac.

I have found Transcoding completely unnecessary if you have some sort of RAID
storage playing the files back from.most complaints of slow playback in premiere are a result of no RAID / inadequate throughput.
