To remove pull down, this was the only thing I could find on how, I used the compressor method

also, i did a test, with compressor method, and compared to the original footage (24p wrapped in 60i) and I could not tell a difference quality wise. So then all this pulldown removal and frame rate conversion is not an issue of image quality, but final delivery, frame rate…?

I could just leave the 24p in 60i wrapper, and edit to 29.97fps.
My output is Vimeo, where they accept both 24 and 30 fps. So there really is no reason for me to do pulldown removal?

i know there will be a difference for sure.

but in the real world, no one is looking with scopes.
i’ve always spent tons of energy studying and finding out all the details, but recently, i’ve come to think its often overboard.

i went ahead and setup comparisons by converting and working with all the different codecs and just went by my eye, and workflow needs.

all the technicalities on paper doesn’t matter that much in the end when my eye should be the judge.

so far, i haven’t been able to notice much of a difference between DVC and pro res

even AIC was just minor differences.

You mean Pro res is an INTERFRAME, and not intraframe, right?

also, i just noticed that my MTS converter can convert the mts files into DVCPro…

i’m a bit confused as to what’s actually happening here.

1. what does this mean for quality, how does it compare to prores
2. will working/editing with it have the same benefits as working with footage from a DVCpro camera?

though, i also have clips that were *accidentally recorded in the wrong fps from before, so i still need to convert and im trying to figure out when that is best to do in the workflow and why.

Good question.

on the panny tm900, you can only shoot 24p in manual mode, so the question is for those times when i need the auto.

but also sometimes, i forget to change the setting to 24p, like the current clips i’ve got.

and shooting in 50 / 60p is good if doing slow mo i hear and knowing when to convert is good too.

Thanks, that cleared up a few things.

I know that hard drives are cheap. I’m on the move a lot with my lap top, and I film a ton of experimental things that are just “learning” exercises at the moment. And 10-20 gigs for temporary or random exercise seems wasteful.

hmm…. but then again, I guess not so long ago, there were physical tapes.

yeah, I guess I’m thinking too much in terms of scarcity.
