I would like to try this method but am not sure i understand what you mean… If i select everything in my edited sequence so that it is ALL highlighted and open a new 16:9 sequence. what do i then do, if i don’t drag and drop? I have tried a few different methods but can’t get the result i’m after unless i use Adams technique. I agree with the nuisance with graphics etc.

Just to clarify. opening a new 16:9 sequence, selecting and dragging the old sequence into it, doesn’t work. You end up with a stretched and distorted image as this method seems to just take 4:3 and stretch it to fit into 16:9, no losing the letterbox!!

However, the method Adam has written works like a dream.

[change the sequence settings to a widescreen 16:9 format (i forget the menu buttons – not at the fcp right now),

then select all the clips and under the edit menu click on delete attributes,

then choose only the Distort option.]
