  • And Floh correct me here if I am wrong, I don’t own the HD version but I saw it at the roadshow in the fall. You can only use the uprez function of SD to HD if you have the hardware correct? I believe that this ability is restricted to the HD version only because the hardware is still somehow involved in this process. I am struggling to remember J.P.’s presentation in my head, but I know this topic came up.

    Kyle,
Try using the reference export instead, that will save you time and space. Not sure why you are getting the error. Floh’s suggestion to use Compressor is a good one. If you want the video to look better download and purchase (not that expensive) Bitvice for your Mac. I encode on a PC using Procoder with the Media 100 self contained file (personal preference and workflow, not to mention Flip4Mac didn’t exist yet!).

p.s. Always test with small files, say a 30 second spot, that way you can debug over and over before you go for the massive 1 hour encode/transcode.

    Best of Luck!

Maybe Floh can chime in as I am not on HD, but make sure your render and preview, and auto update settings are not all set to the highest, best or automatic settings. It may be that Boris is running to hot memory-wise and you are getting that typing lag.

Same here. I jumped from 10.2.8 to 10.3.8 about a month and a half ago and loaded 8.2.2 to replace 8.2.1. Smooth sailing. I haven’t gone to 10.3.9 because there are some funky issue with our network regarding it. Apple has released I understand a few patches for it already so I May jump if it’s stable. I think Apple ran out of numbers to patch more before 10.4 🙂

  • I’ve done just what Floh described. You set up a regular project(s), but that project remains on the machine indefinitely. When I worked in cable and had to add a number of donut spots to tapes that came in I simply inserted them all from M100. I had a “Commercial” project and a “Music” project and neither of those were deleted, unless I had to add or remove material from them.

Then when you go to work on a new project, you simply open the bins from say Commercial, or Music or whatever, use the material and that material does not register as being owned by that new project. Therefore when you delete the new project you still retain the reusable Commercials and Music media and pointer files.

April 20, 2005 at 1:45 pm in reply to: A Boris RED question. How do I load Browser Library

    Jerome,
I have never had this happen with the numerous Boris products I am running here (Red, Graffiti, FX). I can’t think of why that might be, but if you shoot Boris a phone call their tech support folks are a pleasure to deal with. I am sure they can assist you in some way.

    Good luck

April 20, 2005 at 1:41 pm in reply to: Media100 pricing?

Media’s only significant NAB release is SW. It is a Free (that’s the price for now) public beta. Once they go to release the final version, hopefully VERY soon, they will release pricing. Other than that, the HD, 844/X and Final Effects pricing is readily available from them as always.

    Download SW, it’s pretty cool.

April 6, 2005 at 3:54 pm in reply to: media 100 G track not showing after render

How are you putting the title on the graphics track? Importing to the bin and then laying that clip onto the track, or opening the Boris Plug In then opening your settings and applying it to the project that way?

Your graphics track is definitely not grayed out correct?

April 6, 2005 at 3:49 pm in reply to: Missing Hal Fragment

Occassionally you can simply find and delete that Hal fragment. I have had success with this in pre-OSX versions of M100. Floh’s suggestions are the most thorough.
