Ah — didn’t understand the “online BetaSP daily cassettes” part. Now I do. I hope “independent feature length” actually means “20 minutes”!!

Am I thinking what you’re thinking? Frame for frame re-edit… old hunt and peck method? There isn’t a chance in the world, BetaSPs would carry the same timecode, is there?
What resolution did you bring the 16mm in at? What was it telecined to? Any chance you can convince producer dude that this is as good as it’s gonna get?

Shane… if this was DV — we’d just dump it to tape with the 2:3 cadence… why can’t we do that now?
FCP will add the cadence as you dump to tape.

Might not be too much a quality loss… remember footage shot in anamorphic is a quality loss in itself. Changing the aspect to +33 should push the black bars out of the way… you MIGHT then want to export and bring it back in and flag it as anamorphic.
I think the video Ed referenced… although I LIKE having my videos referenced… I take a drink each time I find one referenced here on this board… I don’t think this is what OP had in mind.
But watch it anyway – just in case.

Or you can change the motion tab distort settings in the 4:3 sequence after you’ve dropped in the anamorphic material.
This might (might) give you what you need…

My DSR11 just works… so I’ve never dug into it. Chance a toggle on the front is off — or if you still have it.. use your remote to get to the menu system on the DSR and make sure everything is set to pass thru.

So for the price… you’re paying too much just for the box. Seller’s hoping you will also buy for the included software and “I-want-it-now” factor.
Settle back and ask if indeed this is what you want.

THEN – after you start making good money move on to the best of the best.
Go Intel – go Legal. FCP5 had bugs and you’ll never be able to upgrade to 5.1 without the original discs.
You’ll get there for 3grand and probably less!! And you’ll be legal.
