Sorry that I couldn’t be clearer! Thanks for the effort, Dan. I appreciate it!

    I’m sorry for the confusion.

I’d like to link the light position property of the glass effect so that it corresponds to the brighter area of the fire. So when a bright area of the fire passes the texture, the position of the light property will move with it.

Thanks for the response Dan! Motionscript.com has been a great resource and influence.

Not to be too greedy but I’m kind of interested in seeing how both would work and look. I was looking at an earlier post about the “sample image” expression but, as I mentioned, some of this stuff goes way over my head.

I’d be thrilled just to sample a portion of the image and have the “reflection” respond in kind. But I feel that seeing how both options look, and how they work, would be a fantastic learning experience.

Thanks again for the quick reply!

The episode aired Wednesday, the day after the election in America. I remember hearing that they’ve been known to crank out episodes in as little as a couple of days.

Thanks for all of the fantastic help Aharon. It was because of you and the other great people here at the Cow that I was able to land my first job in broadcast (2.5 years and still learning) and develop my skills to the point where I can take on a freelance client here and there as well.

Good luck to you and all your endeavors and I look forward to hearing from you on the forums from time to time.

To everyone else, keep up the great work!

I chucked the old composition and started a new one and everything seems okay. I’m starting to think that I may have been working in 8bpc but I didn’t check before I trashed the old comp.

Thanks for all the input guys, it was really appreciated! Keep up the good work, you guys do a hell of a job here.

Hmmmm. . .I’ll have to try that. I’ve experimented with rendering it out as premultiplied and straight and it still isn’t working. I’m willing to be that I accidentally clicked something when I was setting up the project on either the AE or the FCP side but I just don’t know what it could have been.

Thanks again for all the advice guys!

    Animation codec
    millions of colors +
    rgb + alpha
    premultiplied
    out of the render queue

this is bizarre. I’m wondering if it’s not a harbinger of a crash of some sort.

Thanks for the heads up on the switch, Dave! I checked it and everything seems correct. The elements that I need to be opaque are white, and what I need to be transparent is black. It’s still not outputting the alpha.

I’m still convinced that I’m doing something wrong though and that this isn’t just some bizarre thing.

Nope, the Alpha type is set to straight. Pixel AR wouldn’t have anything to do with it, would it? If the sequence settings between the clip and the FCP sequence weren’t the same would it affect the alpha?

    Weirdness.
