Not trying to flame you here but I think varying your focal length would help you out alot. A longer lens on the T2i would allow you to get tight shots of the wheels bouncing over the bumps, helmets flying through the frame, and then you wouldnt have to dissolve between the same shot 4 times. I got bored during the 9 seconds waiting for the race to start, and the black bar for the graphic never went away? If you don’t have rights for the stickers on the helmet, a disolve to fuzzed out helmet graphics would still convey speed better. A GoPro under the jump would have been fun, A GoPro right behind the front wheel to show the suspension travel and wheel turning. The shot with the safety tape “X” could have been a lot tighter, with the tape out of focus and fluttering through. and a GoPro on the ground right next to the pole on the runout of that corner, where they are close to the edge of the track, would have given you a nice place to cut to.

We shoot news with 17 EX-3’s, and use SxS cards primarily. I have not tried the “SxS-1” cards yet, as a backup we have Hoodman SDHC cards and adaptor sleves. I like having the adaptor sleeve option if I run out of space and can go out and grab a couple of cards.
I have had many SDHC cards physically fall apart from the constant use, but have not had any data loss (knocking on woodlike substances).
We use Mac Book Pro’s with XDCam Clip Browser to offload the cards to hard drives. I believe the Windows version of Clip Browser does the same. Ideally you could keep the card, and a backup copy of the data on a seperate hard drive(or 2).
Good luck fitting all the accessories on the EX-3 though. my camera went from 8 Lbs out of the box to 18 with 2 Lectro wireless recievers, a Sony V-Mount battery, a top light, and a D-M Accessories shoulder mount.

I talked to two of them today, and they were very helpfull. It turns out we had the Component Output set to Betacam instead of SMPTE. for some reason this was causing the machine not to be able to record.
I’m still a bit confused because they have been set that way since we got them a year ago. One machine had the problem initially yesterday, but at one point we had three of them in one room, that wouldn’t record…
I’m also a bit fuzzy about how an output setting, that we’re not even using, could prevent a recording from happening. Now if we could convince them to add the ability to record past a loss of source video, for a short time, and if the signal does not return in 30 seconds or a minute then stop the recording.

While the KIPro is giving the Low Voltage warning, is the Stop button deactivated? It did not seem to react while the warning was being displayed.
also I would like to insure that the the Custom take, custom clip name does not overwright a pre-recorded clip, could you advise what the correct settings are so we do not accidentally hit the button twice and overwright the previous clips.
Another solution that would help us would be when the KiPro senses a dropped frame, we would love if there was a selection in the menu to stop, or allow it to keep recording for 1 or 2 minutes, and if no video signal reappears the machine stops recording. that allows the camera operator to finish the battery swap, the wireless RF Reciever to reacquire the signal, or reconnect the video cable and continue.
Thanks

You might try a short shotgun type mic. The directionality helps reject background noise, and sounds natural. Here’s the two I have used for news.

For upconverted SD Material, is there any benefit, or is it overkill, to use ProRes422 HQ? how does this setting change the space available on the drive?
What about 720p from an EX3? -
