    Boom, Starkey with the assist.

Thx man, that’s good to know. I see AVC errors all the time and never tied it to framerate.

You could do it in the db layer but that’s really dangerous and should only be done if you can’t get it back any other way and only by a serious SQL admin.

Back up, dump the db into another machine and do the deletions there. If it works and everything looks ok, bring it back to the main machine.

I’d wait for SB support to check it. I’m betting you’ve found a bug.

Yeah, Scott that sounds like db drama.

Scene Detect is a good way to make your db nice and fat isn’t it? 😉

So everyone knows here, scene detect should be used sparingly. It creates a thumbnail for every scene. On a long clip, this can be hundreds of thumbnails and those all get written into the db.

If your db slows down after doing a bunch of scene detections, know that this may be the cause. It’s a cool feature but you should monitor it and use it sparingly instead of running it on everything.

One thing I can confirm, if QT breaks, then the Worker will too, in most cases.

Seek your answer elsewhere and if you want to resolve it quickly, find another, command line or API controllable transcoding solution (Episode maybe?) and move the transcodes off of Quicktime.

You can maybe sort this, but if it goes over a couple of days, just move on as it may not be worth it.

Quicktime is getting stranger and stranger as time goes on.

I’d confirm that they work to and from the same locations, with the same file names using QT Pro or Compressor and then contact support.

If you’re on a PC which I suspect from the machine spec, and you can’t sort it, (these are pretty unusual at 4+ hours) you can call an outside app to do it for you from a Worker action.

Here’s a thread. Looks like it might be the Config Tool.

    Did you get your answer?

Sadly there’s no “law” for who gets what port. I believe it’s Atto’s notification service that runs on 1099.

If you install an Atto raid card but don’t enable the monitoring (I forget what it’s called) this doesn’t happen. Since that monitoring/notification is pretty important, we leave it on and move CatDV.

You might contact Atto and ask if theirs can be swapped.

Check that old thread. Just replied.

Move it to port 1199, or any free port. We chose that one because it was easy to remember.

    That’s why port 1199 was invented. 😉

When we use Atto stuff we just move the system to 1199. No problems with that as long as your address in the client is something like:

    server.domain.net:1199

    or 192.168.x.x:1199

February 7, 2014 at 3:12 am in reply to: Creating New Production Group

Eric, because this is permissions related, I really recommend you go to the source and get help from a dealer, Squarebox Support or JB&A.

Creating a Production Group is easy, as are Roles, but as you’ve already seen, because the settings of the app are tied to the Production Group, it’s not really a quick-start kind of thing to address. (Also the sheer number of preferences is mind boggling. After 7 years on the app I’m still unclear on some of them myself.)

If you don’t have any support or a way to get it, then create 2 production groups, 2 roles and 2 users and start testing. When we train users on CatDV, we introduce Production Group/permissions concepts, cover them 2-3 times in training and then still let the client test for a few days to weeks before really locking things down.

This is a part of the app that’s so powerful and important that it bears some discovery time. With that power, comes responsibility.

If you have some specific questions, shoot them up here and we’ll try our best to address them.
