Thanks Dave. That’s helpful. I feel a little insulted, maybe it’s my lack of sleep, but I’m not a moron. The “which you apparently seek” comment is what did it. Not cool.Here’s some background: decisions have been made that are above my pay grade to take old movies and shows and make them “HD” (ghetto-def). We pillar box some of it (filling top to bottom, sides are matted with a textured pillar box), I’m told to loose the letter box on some of the 4:3 (blowing it up even more) and I’ve even been told to loose the black bars on 2.35:1 John Wayne movies. It looks like ass but as an editor, most of the time I do what I’m told. (I like having a full-time job and I’m currently not interested in returning to the 1099 world.)
So, your explanation of what happens when you resize squares inside of rectangles, and rectangles inside of squares is nothing new to me and wasn’t really helpful. Thanks for trying.
Simply saying there aren’t any good hard and fast answers would have been sufficient.Bret’s response was the kind of assistance I was hoping for. Thank You Bret.

I had this issue with an external BluRay burner (not a RAID drive).
Downloaded this driver and I’m back in business.

would the 720×480 Vegas into 720×486 PPro be causing the crash?
It’s only 6 lines, but I’ve run into problems with Avid where this has been an issue. just a thought.-bh

what scares me the most is I feel the same way most of you do, and I’ve been at it 10 years. I’m searching for what to do next, as I’m just totally BURNED OUT! I’ve been a staff guy all along, and freelance quite a bit for the last 6 years. I find myself stuck in a never ending loop of “will this extra gig get me out of this career funk I’m in, or just make it worse”. The last year or so, it seems to be getting worse. To put it simply, I just don’t care anymore. I’m tired of fixing others mistakes, making others look MUCH better than they are, on projects that are messed up from the start. Mentally, I’m done. Emotionally, I’m almost done. Still Spiritually alive, though sometimes I wonder.
I have 2 young kids and a wife. I can’t take a sabbatical without becoming homeless. any suggestions on how to get out of my gloomy state are welcome.
