I was running FC Studio on my laptop paid for, registered, totally legit. I also loaded the same version on my iMac at home. My wife hit the “register” button while using it. My laptop remained untouched and works properly, but the iMac will not boot up FC Pro anymore. Although Soundtrack, DVD Studio, Compresser, etc, work fine.

The report I get suggests RAM issues possibly…. BAD_ACCESS, KERN something… But when I cycle thru the report and keep trying boot, it eventually ends up back at the registration page. I imagine that a message was sent to Apple, and that computer is banished now from ever using the program again.

That’s what happened, right? How do I make good on this? My wife is a student I was going to get her the Academic version, but figured as long as I did not try and re-register the software everything would be kosher.

Tried everything, threw preference files away, threw out the system id, etc, etc. Should I expect the software police to be calling? Even worse, the wife is in the middle of a student film and needs to get it back to normal ASAP.

Will buying a new version fix this? Do I have to completely reinstall the system software? Tried reinstalling Studio, that didn’t work…

Any suggestions?
